It's Official and It's not good!

I know we are not suppose to be shocked by anything that happens in these last days but once in a while I still get angry even though the bible tells us these things will be so.

The National Education Association has thrown its full support behind homosexual "marriage."

The NEA recently held its annual convention in San Diego, California, where members voted on two issues of importance to those involved in the culture war. One of those issues was whether the union would support same-gender marriage. According to Jeralee Smith, co-founder of the Conservative Educators Caucus, the resolution passed by roughly a two-thirds majority. "There are quite a few items where the NEA absolutely puts its political muscle behind taking down any legislation in any state that they consider to be discriminatory to homosexuals," says Smith. "And some of the language in the resolution also hints that the NEA will try to take down the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA] on the federal level."

Smith told Baptist Press that when a representative of the Conservative Caucus spoke against the resolution and mentioned the words "marriage should be between a man and a woman," the speaker was booed. Also up for a vote was a resolution for the NEA to take a "no position" stance on the issue of abortion. That proposal was voted down 61 percent to 39 percent.

During the meeting, the organization's retiring general counsel, Bob Chanin, complained that "conservative and right-wing bastards" are after the NEA and its state affiliates. Smith called that statement "refreshing honesty" on Chanin's part about how he feels about conservatives. (See related article from LifeSiteNews.com)

Scary World

I am sure by now most of you have heard about the pastor who was shot to death during service! If you have not, you can read about it here: One News Now

I could not believe it when I first heard about it. I am still a little shocked today. I just can't imagine being there, in the one place you should feel so safe. I almost can't stomach the news anymore. It is just full of devastation and tragedy. Every time I think I can't hear about something worse, something like this is reported. I am anxiously awaiting Jesus coming to take his people home.

Current Event Thursday

Photobucket

Thursday already?! Really?
Ok well I saw this story and while I am not going to jump on my anti obama soap box I am just going to put the story on here and refrain from giving my opinion at this time.

People of faith may be target of 'stimulus' package
The administration's economic stimulus bill needs a fix to avoid a courtroom confrontation.
Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the American Center for Law & Justice, tells OneNewsNow there is a provision of the act that actually allows for funds to be given by the federal government in the form of grants for renovation of existing colleges and universities.
"But when you read a little bit further into this legislation, there's a specific prohibition on two things," the attorney explains. "One, if the university itself is a religiously based or faith-based institution, it does not qualify. And if the facility that is being renovated allows religious worship to take place, it also does not qualify."
Specifically, the provision reads that stimulus funds may not be used for "modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities -- (i) used for sectarian instruction, religious worship, or a school or department of divinity; or (ii) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission."
Under that provision, according to Sekulow, many schools would bar on-campus worship or even Bible study because it will put federal funding in jeopardy. That, he says, should raise a warning flag in a federal courthouse.
"It is unconstitutional -- and while I'm prepared to challenge it in court, and we're already working on a possibility, it really needs to be handled in the legislation," the ACLJ leader suggests. "That needs to be job one...remove this provision and get it out of the legislation."
Sekulow states that a "troubling pattern" is developing regarding the use of taxpayer money -- and that this provision is the latest example. He contrasts it with the new administration's swift move to make federal funds available for abortion-providers overseas.
"There is a priority problem in Washington," he says in a press release. "This is not what 'economic stimulus' is about. We know that the American people don't want their tax dollars used for discriminatory measures. That's why this provision must be removed now."
The attorney says if the discriminatory provision is not removed from the stimulus package and is approved and signed into law, the ACLJ will challenge it in federal court.
Stimulation of discrimination?
Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, agrees that the "anti-faith" language of the provision will censor and force people of faith from the public square.

"In order to receive stimulus money our public schools will have to expel after-school Bible clubs and weekend religious meetings," says the Christian attorney. "People who want to speak about their faith will be unwelcome in public places."

He adds that President Obama's idea of faith-based initiatives apparently is to "remove faith from all initiatives."

Chickens!

Yesterday hundreds of church members, not just from our church but others as well took a trip to the state capital. They were suppose to be speaking at the legislative session with law makers and our governor. Our state is expected to vote on allowing same sex marriage. Because our state laws are asinine, the citizens of the state are not allowed to vote on this issue. Our governor really wants to push this and stated last year (when we stepped in and stopped it) no church was going to stop him from doing what he wants. We have also heard money for votes has exchanged hands.

Well guess what? They cancelled session yesterday! They knew they were going to be challenged and so they just decided not to meet! I can not even tell you how aggravated I am. I hope they know they are wrong and just did not want to admit it. Sadly it is expected to pass.

Leviticus 18:22 "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."

EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed

So I have had this on my blog for a while now asking you all to see this. It seems every time I wanted to sit down and watch it, something else came up. I finally got to watch it this weekend and was going to blog about it yesterday but I got so freaked out over the whole Babylon thing I decided that was more important.

Anyway~ in this Ben Stein goes on a quest if you will because he just can't believe the injustices that are happening in this "free" country. We are suppose to be free to worship here. He found out our freedoms are being taken away quietly and slowly so that one day we will just wake up and they will be gone.
There are several scientists and teachers who have been fired for even suggesting there is a God. Not even really coming out and saying there IS a God but just by suggesting it! We all know Darwin even admits he had no idea how the earth started. He just took what was already there and started thinking we all evolved somehow from one species.

SO AGAIN I ASK IF WE CAME FROM MONKEYS WHY ARE THERE STILL MONKEYS??!!

Sorry~ but again as I have said before it seems colleges are so determined to brainwash people into darwinism. Even though I was not raised a christian really I never even for a second would have given any time to the thought we came from anything other than a creator. I just don't see how those people can not see the miracle of every eyelash, skin cell, blood cell, the brain, and think it all just happened by accident!
Ok I am going to stop ranting about the way the world is now. It has been foretold. This is a very interesting documentary.

*update*
After posting this, I came across a related article on One News Now:
A government-funded website in California is promoting harmony between religion and evolution. Christians have filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Supreme Court against the website.

According to a Pacific Justice Institute press release, the website is urging public school teachers to "challenge [their] students' religious beliefs that evolution contradicts their faith." Lower courts have sided with the schools so far, according to PJI attorney Brad Dacus, who is taking the case to the nation's high court.

"[This lawsuit comes] after unsuccessfully stopping the University of California-Berkeley from continuing a program that is all about training teachers to undermine children with traditional religious beliefs about creation, and instead actually persuading them theologically why evolution is correct," he explains.

Dacus believes the state of California is funding a campaign against religion. "This lawsuit is all about funding a program that is outright anti-religious -- and that is a clear violation of the First Amendment's Establishment Clause as well as the free exercise of religion," he points out.

The Christian attorney suggests if the university was funding a program encouraging teachers to teach the validity of creationism, there would have been an immediate order to cease. Dacus adds that the government should not decree that some religious views are better than others.

Make A Wish

Every year at Christmas our church takes up an offering for Make A Wish. While this is wonderful, we learned that we are the only church (at least in my state) that does this for them. Say it with me: WHAT?! This makes me sooo sad but thankful to be part of such a fantastic church. It makes me so happy to know I am part of touching others lives in such wonderful ways.

Here is a little about them:
Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 167,000 children around the world.

Although it has become one of the world's most well-known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission.

A network of nearly 25,000 volunteers enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.

As the Foundation continues to mature, its mission will remain steadfast. Wish children of the past, present and future will have an opportunity to share the power of a wish®.
