Day 17 Anger: Exposing your inner Fred Flintstone

Self Control Day 2:
Oh look another character in my head! This is great!
I never thought of Fred as being angry all the time though, I just thought of him as not being very bright. Then again, I was a lot younger when I watched this one all the time. To me it seemed like he just had very bad luck so he yelled a lot.
Today was a pretty insightful day. I have some anger and irritability issues. And on a scale of 1 to 10 I am about an 11 on the fatigue and frustration factors. The fatigue comes along with an earlier post where I said I am making a change to improve a situation and it is very time consuming. I just feel a little more drained than usual. AND the holidays are coming up. This along with the situation is a huge source of frustration for me right now too. Admittedly I am running on a short fuse right now.

The tongue can turn our whole lives into a blazing flame of destruction and disaster.
James 3:6

We have all said things we don't mean out of anger. But even when we apologize sometimes the person on the receiving end can't forget them.

We all make many mistakes but those who control their tongues can also control themselves in every other way.
James 3:2

Today I learned there are 4 things I need to do to start to gain control over my emotions.
1. Check your heart: The things that come out of the mouth come from the heart
Matthew 15:18

2. Get heart surgery: Create in me a clean heart o God
Psalm 51:10

3. Ask God for long term help: Set a guard over my mouth Lord, keep watch over the door of my lips.
Psalm 141:3

4. Think First speak later: You are not a victim of your impulses. You choose how you will respond to your feelings of anger.

Dear God; Set your guard over my mouth and give me your power to choose my reactions, EVERY TIME, on all fronts. In Jesus name, Amen.
