Day 12 Fear; Exposing your Inner Pinocchio

Courage Day 2:
The first thing I thought of when I read the title for the day was wow, I really do have a lot of different people in my head. In addition to me, God, & the little devil, I have a Charlie Brown, a Buzz Lightyear, and now Pinocchio!
After reading this book I will never look at cartoons the same again ha ha!!

Pinocchio had fear issues. The Blue Fairy told him "Prove yourself brave, truthful, and unselfish, and someday you will be a real boy."
His fear of not being accepted kept him from being brave and resisting peer pressure so he skipped school.
His fear of not getting the Blue Fairy's approval kept him from being truthful.
His fear of not being real drove him to Pleasure Island to fulfill his selfish desires.

It was not until he took the focus off himself (like we learned about yesterday) to save Gepetto that he exhibited all those qualities to become a real boy.

Our fears are our personal prisons! Fear brings friends named worry, anxiety, and lying. I just love all the common sense lines in this book like:
Worry strangles you emotionally. Anxiety is being choked internally. Lying is not a solitary sin!
We were suppose to choose our top 3 fears from a list and using 5 scriptures explain how they can help us overcome that fear. While this was wonderful and helpful, the strongest scripture that I came out with on day 12 to use over and over was in the closing prayer:

"I do believe. Help me overcome my unbelief." Mark 9:24

This is because worry tells God I don't trust him.

Great post.

How often do we try to lie to ourselves . . . or even to God, who sees our hearts and minds, far better than we do?

Blessings,
